Welcome to the
North webster neighborhood coalition
Yesterday and Today
The North Webster Neighborhood Coalition was established to provide an effective means through which the people in the North Webster area could work together to maintain and improve the living standards and social and economic conditions of the neighborhood. The Coalition strives to serves as a liaison between the residents of our neighborhood and the City of Webster Groves, St. Louis County, area Social Service agencies; and we hope to foster and collaborate relationships to help serve residents in the area.

We are proud of the support we have been able to provide our community and what we have been able to accomplish since we began in 1987. Our efforts have included: Community Carnival, North Webster Day Celebration, Black History Programs, Essay Contests, Scout Troops, Easter Sunrise Services, Neighborhood and Holiday gatherings, Home Weatherization Program, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Senior Service Home Repair, Yard projects, Housing, Back to School Events, Voter Registration, Candidate Forums and Neighborhood Safety.

Moving forward, the North Webster Neighborhood Coalition plans to focus on preserving the rich history of the North Webster community, assisting and helping neighbors, supporting charitable efforts and addressing neighborhood concerns.

COALITION PRojects
Our support for the Neighborhood includes collaborations with area churches, local civic and not for profit organizations, City youth activities, Webster's 4th of July Community Day's Parade, Make a Difference Day, Douglas Manor Seniors, Webster Groves Family and Friends, Free Style Pool Pass Initiative and annual support of programs of the Webster Rock Hill Ministries.

Coalition projects have included the building of 15 Single Family houses and most recently our Historic Preservation projects have included:
North Webster Neighborhood Walk - the 8th in a Series of Webster Groves Historic Walking Tours. The creation was a joint project with the Webster Groves Historical Society and the City of Webster Groves. The "Walk" leads you past site of significance, including homes, churches, businesses and Douglas School.

Barbre Park Sculpture - From 2016 to 2019, representatives form the NWNC teamed with the Webster Groves Arts Commission and the Webster Parks Department to transform Barbre Park into a site which pays tribute to the North Webster Neighborhood with educational signage and a bronze sculpture created by nationally known artist, Preston Jackson. The sculpture depicts scenes celebrating the history, contributions and lives of the Black families of the 150+ year community. Some of the images were taken from the Neighborhood biography; North Webster, A Photographic History of a Black Community, by Henrietta Ambrose and Ann Morris. Stones from the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church, built in 1845 (demolished in 2012), surround the base of the statue.

Ivory Crockett Park - The NWNC is an integral partner with the City of Webster Groves to upgrade facilities including stone signage, a youth basketball goal, barbeque pits, playground equipment, lighting at the pavilion and power at the baseball fields. This partnership is ongoing.
